WHAT INSPIRES ME

"I have always loved creating art. I live it! Being creative gives me the freedom to express and inspire. My paintings are original tactile pieces created with the use of acrylic paints and chalks. Often these pieces have many layers, vibrant colours, lots of texture and some organically created collage.
 

During the many years as a primary teacher the whisper to develop my own personal art practice eventually became a loud shout. My school classroom has graduated to my Terranora studio where my art process now evolves.  My inspiration? Where the forest meets the sea. Our very own undulating caldera valley stretching down to the beautiful coastal rocky shores and sandy beaches.

A plethora of sea life, landscape and flora.

Vintage elements are also showcased in my work particularly the 1940’s and the 1950’s. Acrylics, oil pastels, vintage ephemera, fabric, images, inks, gesso and charcoals are layered amidst personal mark making in order to link and invoke a connection with my audience.
 

My palettes vary from vivid magentas and intense reds, brilliant blues, gorgeous green golds and yellow oxides to the monotone almost black and white of the yesteryears.  Enjoy."
